Organizational Resiliency occurs when civil society organizations THRIVE. Civil society organizations THRIVE when they sustain programs and services and use resources in a manner that prevents their depletion. For CSOs, the phrase “sustainability” is commonly used to describe the ability to ensure financial viability while fulfilling a mission. Beyond financial viability, sustainability and, ultimately, resiliency, also require leadership succession planning, adaptability, accountability, transparency and, sometimes, transformation. The ability for CSOs to THRIVE in a time when conditions for civil society in the global North and South are increasingly and dangerously restrictive and threatening compels PartnersGlobal to double-down on our commitment to stand alongside our civil society partners. Our Organizational Resiliency model draws upon peer support and experience to MAINTAIN and PROTECT our sector by filling a critical gap in service provision to CSOs along their organizational lifecycle
PartnersGlobal is committed to building strong and adaptable civil society organizations. Our Resiliency Plus (+) Organizational Strengthening Framework is an integrated assessment, training, coaching and accompaniment pathway for civil society organizations at all stages of their growth.
Our interventions to develop Organizational Resiliency sit within our Resiliency Plus Framework, which recognizes that with the passage of time, all organizations, regardless of whether they reach maturity, confront periods of their growth in which they face the real and immediate challenge of Stagnation or Decline.
Recognizing the stage of an organizational life cycle positions us better to design diagnostic and prescriptive tools to intervene. At transition points, organizations struggle and need to shift, expand, or change leadership styles and/or people in order to advance successfully through these stages. Frequently NGO leaders do not realize – until a major crisis hits – that they are experiencing a natural (albeit uncomfortable) transition period and that changes must be made.
Our approach emphasizes peer-to-peer learning and cross-regional adaptation mobilizing the Partners Network of trainers and facilitators is specialized in the design and delivery of comprehensive support to civil society organizations along their organizational lifecycles – providing critical inputs needed during times of transition and organizational changes and decline. Our Organizational Strengthening Approach involves two primary components: 1. Building Stronger Institutions; and 2. Protecting Civic Space.
