Where We Work

In more than 50 countries over the past 20 years, Partners has witnessed the power of participation to improve governance, solve difficult disputes and initiate social change. We look, sometimes in unlikely places, for strategic openings to deepen democratic participation.  In some cases, this means a new national government committed to anti-corruption, decentralization of power or democratic reform. In other cases, local governments, civil society or international investors may need new participatory tools for managing change at the local level.

Developing a culture of democratic change management is a long-term process. When we choose a country for a new Center or program, we commit to long-term involvement, supporting the development of local leadership, institutions and expertise.  This commitment is embodied in our expanding global network of locally managed, independent Centers.
