Mauritania

MauritaniaIn Mauritania Partners for Democratic Change was contracted by the World Bank to work closely with the stakeholder analysis team (SHA) at the bank to provide coalition-building support to the Stakeholder Analysis and Coalition Building for Good Governance Project. The project aimed to support reform activists from civil society organizations and members of the Mauritanian Parliament by providing technical support and training, in building and supporting a coalition dedicated to anti-corruption. Project activities included coalition preparation and capacity-building activities for Parliament and civil society, training for civil society organizations identifying capacity-building needs, and launching the coalition action plan. Through the project, Mauritanian civil society formed a coalition that had a legal structure, vision statement and a three-year strategic plan. Partners’ work in Mauritania was prior to the recent coup in Mauritania.
