Country, Risk & Stakeholder Assessment
Because Partners specializes in working at the intersection of the public, NGO, and private sectors, our assessments synthesize multiple points of view and offer a useful alternative to “stovepipe” assessments of single projects or sectors.
Examples of some of Partners country and program assessments include:
- The first step in Partners decision to build a new Center is an assessment of the in-country capacity to manage change and promote democratic processes. This assessment guides the development of the new Center as it positions itself in the market as a service provider. Examples include:
- Peru,
2005: In over 200 interviews with government officials, local and
international NGOs, embassies, and corporations, Partners analyzed the
dynamics of conflict in areas where extractive industries are located and
designed a strategy to embed change and conflict management in Peruvian
society.
- Indonesia, 2007: Synthesizing
nearly 90 interviews with local and international NGOs, academic
institutions, media, government, international donors and private firms,
Partners analyzes the new expectations and challenges created by
Indonesia’s democratic transition.
- Partners experts are often contracted for assessments of specific issues or programs. Examples include:
- In Egypt, Partners' President Julia Roig was part of the Assessment Team that conducted a mid-term evaluation of the "Family Justice Project," which is working to 1) strengthen family mediation, and (2) improve access to and information about family court services.
- In
Bolivia and El Salvador, Partners carried out an assessment of the capacity
of civil society to work on anti-corruption issues. Additionally in El Salvador,
the Partners team assessed the ability of civil society networks to press
for transparency in government.
