Sustainable Connections for Sustainable Development (SCSD) is a regional initiative that employs PartnersGlobal’s extensive experience in conflict management to help resolve conflicts related to natural resource management in Latin America. By working closely with local organizations and leaders from different sectors in Guatemala, Panama and Peru, SCSD is creating the platforms for communities, governments, and companies to hold technical, neutral, productive and ongoing dialogues on the controversial issues surrounding sustainable development and the extractive industry.
Working closely with all the Partners Network affiliates in the region, including Socios-Peru, SCSD activities include:
- A regional conference in Bogota, Colombia to promote the exchange of experiences and to generate regional awareness of international standards, good practices and lessons learned amongst different stakeholders.
- In-country and regional trainings on topics such as effective negotiation strategies, facilitating multi-stakeholder dialogues, aligning legal and governmental decision-making processes with international standards, and the responsibilities and rights of local communities, governments and private sector companies.
- Workshops that bring together diverse participants to demonstrate the importance of transparency, accountability, and sensitivity to the needs of marginalized communities.
- Local Roundtable Dialogues that convene affected communities, government officials, and companies to discuss and generate proposals to resolve issues of common concern.
