AISST Promotes Gender Mainstreaming in Security Sector Reform

AISST Director Colonel Birame Diop participated in a platform to address security sector reform in Senegal.

A recent platform was held to support the revision of Senegal's existing legislative documents currently used to manage the integration of female personnel in the armed forces.  The platform's work will be followed by a five day conference in Senegal on gender mainstreaming in the security sector. 

Participants included: Madame Ndioro Ndiaye, President of the Alliance for Migration Leadership and Development (AMLD); Madame Dior Fall Sow, former Minister of Family Affairs; lawyer Madame Absa Wade Ngom;  Colonel Maissa Niang, Director in Charge of Gender Issues at the Ministry of Gender; AISST Director, Colonel Birame Diop, as legal officer and technical advisor of the Minister of Armed Forces; Lt. Col Marone, Chancellor at the Ministry of Armed Forces;  Lt. Col Abdoul Ba, Chancellor at the Headquarters of the Armed Forces; Major Biagui, Deputy Chief of the Legal Office at the Ministry of Armed Forces; and Madame Khar Ndiaye, Program Manager at AMLD.
