Parceiros Brasil convenes discussion on Community Policing in Rio de Janiero
With support from the Consulate General of the USA, Parceiros Brasil invited community policing experts to Rio de Janeiro (March 31-April 5, 2011) to advance Community Policing

The Consulate General of the USA, in collaboration with Partners Brazil’s Director, Gabriela Asmar invited Dr. James Isenberg (left) and Richard Hite (right) to Rio de Janeiro to join with Rio de Janeiro police, court, and community leaders in a series of discussions that focused on “Enhancing Community Policing”. Both Dr. Isenberg and Mr. Hite have extensive experience address Community Policing issues as they have been involved in the creation of innovative strategies to address these issues. During the visit to Rio de Janeiro Dr. Isenberg and Mr. Hite met with numerous police and judicial leaders, executives of the Public Safety Department and community members who were involved with the development of Community Policing strategies in Rio de Janeiro. During the visit, Dr Isenberg and Mr. Hite participated in presentations about their experience with leadership issues, a Youth Police Initiative designed to “build trust” between youth and local police officers and other discussions that involved organizational and community change issues that could assist with the “enhancement” of Community Policing in Rio de Janeiro.
