Director of Parceiros Brasil Receives Prestigious Fellowship in Dispute Resolution

Gabriela Asmar, Director of Parceiros Brasil, has been selected as one of the class of 2011 Weinstein International Fellows by the JAMS Foundation, one of the leading dispute resolution institutions in the United States.

Created in 2008, the Weinstein International Fellowship program enables individuals from outside the United States to visit the U.S. to learn more about dispute resolution practices. Last year, only seven fellows were chosen from a list of outstanding candidates. As a central part of the program, the Weinstein Fellows pursue a project of their own design that serves to advance the resolution of disputes in their home countries. Ms. Asmar, a highly accomplished mediator and recipient of the 2009 Innovare Award for her innovative work in advancing alternative conflict resolution among Brazilian lawyers, will be spending four weeks as part of the fellowship in the U.S. during summer 2011. She wants to learn more about building a case management system for Commercial Mediation to help more efficiently resolve business disputes in Brazil.
