Fundamental Conflict Management and Resolution Methods

The diagram below summarizes the most fundamental methods of dispute resolution in terms of how much power the disputants have in generating the resolution, and how much focus is given to building or restoring a cooperative long-term relationship between the parties.  Partners' work centers on expanding the use of participation-centered methods including Negotiation, Conciliation, Mediation and Facilitation as well as more complex, long term processes that involve multiple stakeholders. Fundamental to all of the methodologies are good Communication Skills, one of the primary skill sets taught in Partners' training programs.
