Sub-Grant
Beneficiaries
Nearly 6,000 people have benefited from the
Roma Integration Program’s sub-grants program. The following
chart illustrates the breakdown of projects by sector and
the numbers of people affected in the target communities:
- Education programs, including tutoring services and
teacher’s assistant trainings, prepare Roma students for
integration into majority schools.
- Health, housing, and social welfare programs improve
access to essential social services, services which Romani
communities are often denied.
- Job training and employment counseling programs reduce
unemployment levels by providing Roma with marketable
job skills.
- Infrastructure projects help build playgrounds and improve
parks in Roma neighborhoods, updating facilities that
have fallen behind those in majority communities.
- Free-time activities for children provide safe, educational
environments where Roma youth can interact with each other
and with non-Roma children and improve their self-confidence.
